Project Tag: Amanda Moeckel
Amanda Moeckel is an artist from Brooklyn, NY. She grew up an animal lover and still can’t even squish a bug. She was an activist at an early age and has taken part in street activism, nonviolent civil disobedience, vegan outreach and undercover investigations on factory farms.
In art school in 1999, after finding a role model in Sue Coe, she wed her two passions and started making art about animal suffering and advocacy. She has attempted to express all the emotions that she felt—regret, heartache, helplessness, upon finding out about the ways animals are abused in the pursuit of profit. She also makes work that represents hope, and uses positive stories of rescue and escape to inspire people to get and stay active on behalf of animals.
Her work is about the human-animal connection, the soul in each living being and the desire to reduce suffering in the world.
She currently is in pursuit of a Master’s in Fine Art degree at School of Visual Arts in New York City.
